Evangelical Ministry in a Non-Evangelical Parish
Writing from his own experience of parish ministry, Paul Darlington explains the challenges and opportunities of ministering in a parish which was previously non-evangelical.
Paul writes: ‘An increasing number of evangelical ministers find themselves serving in parishes (or a number of parishes) where the gospel of grace is unknown and has been absent for many generations. Indeed, there have been training courses for bishops to help them to match evangelical ministers with these kinds of parishes.
Some clergy have actively sought appointment to this sort of parish, seeing it as one of the best opportunities afforded by the Church of England for the growth of gospel ministry in the nation. The aim of this booklet is to offer some guidance as to how such a ministry might be profitably pursued.
