Newcastle Cathedral plans a weekend festival of LGBT events including a panel on 'Queering the Church'.
Newcastle Cathedral is planning a weekend festival of LGBT events in July. These events include a panel discussion on ‘Queering the Church: beyond tolerance to inclusion’ featuring, among others, ‘a nonbinary genderqueer transgender person’ who is an ordained deacon.
We are working with local evangelical ministers to support them in responding to this event. Please contact our Regional Director, George Crowder, for more information on this.
Director Lee Gatiss comments: ‘There are better ways of rejoicing in the diversity of humanity — by proclaiming the joyful news of eternal life for every one of us who repents, turns away from our sin and turns to Jesus instead. Bring back the cross, the symbol of his kingdom. That is the banner under which Christians gather. But God says, “pride comes before destruction.”’
