Summary
- 1703 Born at Epworth in Lincolnshire to Samuel & Susanna Wesley
- 1720 Up to Christ Church, Oxford
- 1725 Ordained and elected a fellow of Lincoln College. Probably converted around this time.
- 1729 The “Holy Club” formed in Oxford
- 1735 Travelled to Georgia (USA) as a missionary
- 1738 Returned to England and linked up with the Moravians.
Year of his "Aldersgate experience".
- 1739 Separated from the Moravians and began itinerant preaching with other “methodists”. Built first chapel in Bristol under private trusteeship.
Wesley refused to separate from the established Church.
- 1784 Ordained his first ministers to provide oversight of the congregations.
- 1791 Died peacefully at the age of 88.
