Word on Wednesday: Lee Gatiss on JC Ryle
Posted by Sophia Akouo, 10 Aug 2016
Lee Gatiss speaks about what we can learn from Bishop J.C. Ryle as we seek to proclaim the same gospel truths and flourish in the Church of England today.
Lee Gatiss, Director of Church Society, gave a great talk at this year’s Church Society Conference. The conference itself was called “Be Faithful: Remaining Steadfast in the Church of England Today”, and Lee’s talk was on JC Ryle, who was a faithful Anglican bishop in the nineteenth century. It was Bishop Ryle’s 200th birthday this year!
So grab a cuppa and a scone for an inspiring hour on what we can learn from the good bishop for our own tumultuous days.
You can also listen to Mike Ovey’s talk from the same conference, on being “Faithful Teachers in an Age of Confusion.” And Mark Pickles’ excellent presentation on “Faithful Stewards in a Fickle World.”
Sophia Akouo is an ordinary Anglican churchgoer who enjoys listening to good talks.
