The Theology of Billy Graham

As tributes are written and memories are being shared following the death of Billy Graham, we're sharing this article from the Churchman archives examining the theology of the great evangelist.

In 1954, Billy Graham made his first trip to the UK for an evangelistic crusade in London. As thousands flocked to hear his preaching, and as many of those gave their lives to Christ, some wondered what it was about his message and his preaching that made him so effective.

This article, from the 1954 edition of Churchman, examines Graham’s theology: his confidence in the Bible’s authority; the centrality he gave to the work of Christ; the seriousness with which he viewed sin; and the urgency of the message he spoke.

May God bless us with others such as him.
