The Autumn 2018 edition of Churchman is now available.
The latest edition of Churchman has a preaching theme, including articles from the perspectives of historical theology, church history and pastoral theology. Michael A G Haykin examines biblical preaching in the English Reformation with a focus on Hugh Latimer. Simon Vibert draws lessons from literature, church history, contemporary experience and the Bible in his article on ‘How to Preach so the Listeners May Truly Hear’. Adrian Lane looks at task of shaping a sermon so that it teaches, engages and delights its hearers. And Justin L. McLendon examines ‘the Ordinary Means of Grace’, including the sermon, in the ministry of G. Campbell Morgan.
Gerald Bray’s editorial discusses the relationship between the Church of England and the rest of the Anglican Communion, especially in light of this year’s GAFCON in Jerusalem.
Churchman also includes a wide selection of book reviews of interest to both pastors and scholars.
